The congregation of St. John's Episcopal Church (SJEC) was organized as an Anglican mission in 1738, and is one of the oldest Episcopal congregations in the state. It was formally recognized as a parish in 1784.
The present building is its fourth sanctuary, the congregation having outgrown each of the first three to be built. The parish of SJEC is committed to serving the needs of those who live on the social and economic margins of society, with various efforts directed toward those in need in the wider community.
SJEC continues to make the historic and spacious buildings available to outreach groups such as ourselves and the leadership makes every effort to encourage other groups in the community.
A wonderful letter from the Rt Rev. Clarence N. Coleridge to Marian Bradley and her husband, Bradley, thanking them for all their hard work towards the reopening of Sanford House, our current premises, in 2010.
Marian is still extremely active on the Board of SJFC and does incredible work for the Community Supper and Food Pantry.
